How to Script a B2B Video Ad That Converts [2026 Blueprint]

Your best ever sales pitch. Filmed on your phone. Running 24/7 to your dream customers. Here's the exact blueprint.

You could have the best targeting in the world. A landing page that converts like crazy. A service so good your clients never leave.

But if your ad doesn't make them stop scrolling in the first place, none of the above matters.

And if your ad does make them stop scrolling but doesn't persuade them to care enough to click? It doesn't matter either.

So we built a formula for it. Four steps. Two bits of social proof. We've used it across dozens of clients over six years. It works.

We've tested selfie videos against properly shot studio videos. The selfie wins. Every single time.

The algorithm favours content that looks native. People engage more with something that feels like a person talking to them, not a corporation broadcasting at them. A selfie video, shot in your office or your car, will beat a £5,000 shoot with multiple cameras and a production crew.

Which means you can stop waiting for the "right" production setup and just start.

    The Blueprint

Here's the whole thing. Every step has a job. The image below shows how it fits together.

    Filming Tips

Keep it simple. Don't let production quality become an excuse not to start.

    iPhone, selfie mode

Good lighting. Decent audio. That's all you need. The more "normal" it looks, the better it performs.

    Speak like a conversation

You're speaking to a person, not a faceless business. Don't over-script. Talk like you're explaining it to a mate.

    Edit with CapCut Pro

Free app. Add fast cuts, subtitles, text overlays. Cut out the "umms" and "ahhs". Keep the video rolling while filming and edit later.

    Under 2 minutes

Long enough to hit every point. Short enough to keep attention. Platforms favour shorter videos but 10 seconds won't convince anyone to click.

The biggest mistake people make isn't filming badly. It's not filming at all. Don't let production quality become the reason you never get started.

If you stumble over a word, just pause and restart the sentence without turning the camera off. You'll cut it out in the edit. One long take is easier to work with than 47 separate video files.

    Step 1: The Hook

The opening frame. The first two to five seconds. This is where your ad lives or dies.

The very first job is to make your exact target audience stop scrolling.

We have a simple hack that works every time: call out the specific job titles, industries, or types of companies you're targeting. In a text overlay on the thumbnail. In the first five seconds of you speaking.

    Hook examples:

    "Attention B2B marketing managers..."

"Food and beverage warehouse managers, this is for you..."

"Tired gym owners who are sick of..."

The people you actually want to speak to see their job title and stop. Everyone else scrolls past. And that's exactly what you want.

Here's the bit most people miss: filtering out the wrong people is just as important as stopping the right ones. When someone who doesn't fit your audience scrolls past, the platform learns from that. It starts showing your ad to more people who look like the ones who stopped and watched. So every person who ignores your ad is actually making your targeting better.

Challenge number one is getting people to stop scrolling. Everything else is irrelevant until you solve that.

    Action

Write 2-3 different hooks. Each one should call out a different job title, industry, or pain point.

Add the hook as a text overlay on the first frame so it works even with the sound off.

Test them against each other. The hook is where most ads succeed or fail.

Proven creative frameworks and real examples for industrial, niche and technical businesses.

    Step 2: Double Down

You've got them to stop. Now you need to keep them watching.

This is where you pull the thread on the problems and pain points your audience faces. The issue they've been thinking about. The thing keeping them up at night. And crucially, this problem needs to be related to what your product or service actually solves.

A really simple way to do this is to ask rhetorical questions about what happens if the problem persists.

If you're speaking to founders, the stakes are existential. Revenue dropping. Growth stalling. The business going backwards.

If you're speaking to managers or directors, it's different. They don't get the recognition. They don't get promotions. They don't change their career. They don't have an easier job. Their boss still thinks the marketing isn't working. Whatever the specific pain is, lean into it.

Then you say the magic words: "It doesn't have to be this way."

That sentence is the bridge. It takes you naturally from talking about their problems to talking about your solution.

Without it, you get what most B2B companies do. "Hi, we're Smith and Jones Engineering. We do X, Y and Z." Nobody cares. Not yet. They care about themselves. They care about their problems. They care about making their job easier or their revenue bigger. Lead with that, not with your company name.

    Benchmarks

    Social Proof #1: The Story

Right here, between doubling down on the problem and presenting your solution, you drop in a quick transformation story.

Something like: "We actually solved this exact problem for Steve." Steve was in the same position. Same frustrations. Same issues you've just been talking about. The audience is nodding. That's me. That's exactly me.

Now six months later, Steve's business has gone from X to Y. Whatever the transformation looks like for your product. Keep it brief.

The whole point is to make the prospect think: "Someone else had my exact problem and now they're where I want to be. How?"

That question is the setup. It leads directly into your solution.

    Step 3: Your Solution

Now you present your product or service. But not as a list of features. You present it as an unbelievable gift they've stumbled across. Something they're fortunate to be seeing today.

Position it right and the prospect feels lucky they found you. That's the opposite of what happens when your sales team is chasing cold leads who don't want to hear from you.

Stack the benefits. Not just one line about what you do. Hammer them.

    Benefit stacking example:

"Not only do you get around-the-clock IT support..."

"You also get a dedicated account manager who knows your business..."

"Plus proactive monitoring so problems get fixed before you even know about them..."

"And quarterly reviews to make sure everything's actually working for you."

Lead with the benefits. Then, and only then, clarify the format. Is it a monthly retainer? A one-off workshop? A software subscription? You don't want confusion later. But benefits come first. Format comes second.

Quick note: you might be realising this framework isn't just for video ads. It's actually a decent framework for all your marketing. Your website. Your landing pages. Your email sequences. It follows the natural arc of taking someone from stranger to client.

Social Proof #2: Numbers That Validate

You've told Steve's story. You've stacked the benefits. Now you give them the extra reassurance that makes them feel confident about clicking.

Use specific numbers. And weirdly, random-looking specific numbers work better than round ones.

"£137,500 generated" hits harder than "over £100k generated." That specificity triggers something in the brain. It feels real. Precise. Not made up.

The holy grail is pound or percentage improvements across multiple clients. But if you don't have that yet, go simple:

    • Screenshots of client logos on screen
    • Screenshots of Google review ratings
    • Happy client emails or messages overlaid on screen
    • Number of years in business or clients served

Just enough to give them a nod. "Other people have used them and they're happy." That's all you need at this stage.

Selling to a niche audience? Let's talk.

I'll walk you through how to get your video ad in front of the right people.

    Step 4: Call To Action

It's amazing how many companies forget this bit.

Someone has watched your video. They've given you 30, 60, 90 seconds of their attention in a very busy life. And then you just... end. No instruction. No next step. Nothing.

Tell them exactly what to do. Make it idiot-proof.

    CTA examples:

"All you have to do is click the link below, fill in your name and details, and we'll send you X for free."

"We're running a special offer for the first 20 people who sign up this month..."

"Click below, book a 15-minute call, and we'll walk you through exactly how this works for your business."

Stack the value again here. If you can offer something extra on top, do it. A bonus resource. A limited offer. An exclusive consultation. That last nudge is often the difference between "maybe later" and an actual click.

Make it a no-brainer. Make it easier for them to say yes than to say no.

One more thing: be persistent with leads once they come in. Don't treat them as second-class just because they came from an ad instead of a referral. Because you built that target audience yourself, they could be even more perfect for you than a random introduction.

    Putting It All Together

It doesn't need to be perfect the first time. Get a rough version out. See what the data says. Improve it. Keep iterating.

Running a slightly rough ad campaign is infinitely better than running none. Or worse, spending money on marketing that doesn't generate any awareness in your actual target audience.

And remember: people probably won't click or watch the whole thing the first time they see it. The second, third, fourth time they see your face, that's when it starts to land. Touch points compound. Trust builds over repeat exposure, not from a single view.

Even if someone doesn't click today, you're paying to put your best elevator pitch in front of someone who is exactly in your target audience. Maybe it clicks next time you email them. Next time your sales team reaches out. Next time you see them at a conference and they say "oh yeah, I've seen your stuff."

You're paying to speak to your dream customers 24/7. That's the power of getting this right.
